Danny Shows His Intent

STOCKPORT assistant pro Danny Wardop showed his intent of winning the Manchester Alliance’s professional Order of Merit at Bramall Park.

At the mid-winter break Wardrop had a substantial led in the OoM but since play resumed in January he has seen his big lead whittled away by several other contenders.

But he hit form at Bramall Park with a four-under par score to total 40 points to finish one ahead of David Green (Dukinfield) and Craig Corrigan to extend his lead at the top to 74 points from Grant Hamerton (Pike Fold).

Wardrop’s dad Mike (Didsbury) stays on top of the amateur OoM after combining with his son to finish in fourth place in the pro am competition after winning a cpo on 43 points from Jon Cheetham (1836 Tour) and Joe Kirwan (Bramall Park) and Dave Brunton (Ringway) and Dave Jagger (Saddleworth.

Thje top three spots went to Leigh’s Andrew Baguley and Mark Riley 45 and Craig Corrigan and Tony Shimelt (Crompton and Royton) who won a cpo on 44 points from Chorlton’s Adam Hodkinson and Ian Hales.

Leading in the am am section were Kevin Shea and Jim Cunliffe (Bolton Old Links) 44 from Terry Gilbert and Phil Prince (Altrincham) 41 and Mark Gauci (Chorlton) and John Aikenhead (Ashton-on-Mersey).
