Manchester Alliance at Crewe

Sponsored by Neil Humphries of Glenmuir

Great Win For Tony

LOYAL Alliance supporter Tony Cuppello from Pike Fold found a great amateur partner in club colleague Paul Wilson for a rare win as the Alliance enjoyed a snow-free course at Crewe with all of the greens in play.

Crewe always provides a warm welcome both on and off the course and their Captain David Williamson was on hand at all times to ensure the day ran smoothly and he also enjoyed his round with Alliance Captain Tim Maxwell.

The Manchester Alliance was the first sponsorship for Glenmuir many years ago and Neil Humphries has maintained the connection with continued sponsorship while Glenmuir has gone on to reach international heights in golf.

Frozen fairways and greens created their problems but there were still plenty of good scores in evidence.

It needed a cpo on 39 points to see Cuppello and Wilson on into top spot ahead of Craig Corrigan and Wiganís Alan Ainscow.

It was equally close in the battle for the other pro am prizes with three pairs locked on 38 points.

Getting the nod were Alan Crompton and Andrew Kelly (Haigh Hall) from Adam Hodkinson and Pat Gilsenan (Chorlton) and Ellesmereís Anthony Millar and Nigel Anderson.

Top individual pro was Craig Corrigan with 34 points, one more than Graham Cox (Davenport) and Mark Smith (Stamford)
