Alistair grateful for new playing opportunities


CHORLTON Golf Club’s assistant professional Alistair Waddell recently qualified as a PGA professional and is now looking to enjoy playing more golf in a variety of professional tournaments.


He is delighted to get sponsorship support from Chorlton member Don Milligan to help fund the expenses involved in playing tournament golf.


Don said: “Alistair has a good playing record and I am delighted to give him support during the coming year.


“It is very difficult for young players to find the money needed for entry fees, travel and accommodation and I was pleased to give Alistair some help for his playing plans in 2020.


Alistair said: “Previously I was a winner on the 1836 tour and twice the Manchester Alliance matchplay Champion.


“I also won numerous Manchester Alliance and Liverpool Alliance fixtures and the 2018 Harold Lees PGA event event


“I was the 2018 PGA assistants order of merit winner for the North Region (Cheshire, North Wales, Lancashire and Yorkshire and played in the Turkish Airlines Challenge tour event in 2016

“In the past two years I have been concentrating on my PGA examinations and qualified passing my final exams In December 2019.


“My plans for 2020 are to head to South Africa for Sunshine Tour School, play events on the Europro Tour and play National PGA events and 1836 tour events.


“I would like to thank my mum and dad, boss Dave Mackinnon and fellow assistant Tom Rowland for their help and encouragement and also all at Chorlton for their support and thanks to Don for reaching out and offering his support.


“It will help with covering costs in South Africa and cover costs locally to help with funding needed when travelling nationally.”
