Didsbury star looking forward to a busy year

JEANNIE O’Neill (pictured) has a long, busy and successful time in golf after being a member of Didsbury Golf Club for 46 years.

Her time, voluntary efforts and achievements at her club have seen her chosen as their current President, a role she took on last October - the second lady at the club to serve in this role.

She is combining this in what promises to be a very busy and enjoyable year by serving as the Captain of the Manchester Lady Past Captains Society in 2019 and as far as she knows it is the first time that anyone has taken on this dual role.

Jeannie outlined some her roles and successes at her club over the years: "I was Lady Captain at Didsbury in 1992 and I have served several times as match secretary. I have also served on the East Cheshire Ladies Committee as Treasurer.

"I have also been the Didsbury representative of the Lady Past Captains Society for a number of years.

"During my membership at Didsbury I was privileged to play on the East Cheshire B team when we won the East Cheshire shield three years on the run in the 1990’s.

"The golf programme for the Manchester and District LPCS is two qualifying competitions at Birchwood and Pleasington followed by the final on August 2 at Didsbury.

"The Society’s Annual Luncheon will be held in October at the Lancashire Cricket Ground.

"I hope in my year as President and Captain of the MLPCS to act as an ambassador for Didsbury Golf Club."
