Rod delighted to work with his ‘Dream Team’

MACCLESFIELD Golf Club’s new officers drove off in style in front of an enthusiastic group of members and leading them into action was the new Captain Rod Price who described his fellow officers as his ‘Dream Team’.

Rod, who has been a very active and enthusiastic member of his club for 11 years is joined in office by President Neil Mutter, who has been his best mate for many years, Lady Captain Myra Clark, a true club icon and season-ticket holder at Macclesfield Town and Luke Stevens the talented Junior Captain.

After being driven to the club is style by ‘Parker’ AKA Peter Lloyd Rod was given a guard of honour to the first tee who were dressed to remind him that he once owned a fish and chip shop in Sandbach for 30 years.

All went well at the drive-in giving Rod times to reflect on his time at his beloved club and how he sees an exciting year ahead in his role as Captain

Rod with Parker

Rod said: "My best handicap was 12, now 18 and my favourite other course is Dunskey at Portpatrick in Scotland.

"The seventh hole at Macc is by far my favourite as on a clear day you have fantastic views of seven shires.

"I normally play two to three times a week although my wife would tell you that it is more- my record is 18 days on the trot!

"My own personal golfing highlight is a hole-in-one on the seventh hole at Astbury GC.

Rod and Guard of honour

"As well as golf I also enjoy snooker and football as well as golf and the only team I support is Manchester United.

"My chosen players to join me in a four ball would be Neil Mutter, my best mate and President, George Best who is my footballing hero and John F Kennedy as I’d just love to speak with him.
