Sun shines at last as Pike Fold duo win the trophy

AT last after a record nine postponements in their winter programme the excellent Manchester Alliance field at Hazel Grove were able to enjoy sunny and warm conditions and produce a string of good scores.

The annual competition at Hazel Grove features the Leo Feeney Trophy for the best score by a club pair in recognition of a former Alliance legend

It was won by Pike Fold pro am duo Grant Hamerton and Ged Muldowney who posted 45 points after a cpo with Standís Rob Batchelor and Keith Dingley.

They finished in second place in the pro am section behind Andy Palmer (Chorley) and Keith Ashton (Bolton) who had a best-of-the-day 47 points,

Andy Palmer shared the top individual pro spot with Mark Hancock (Stand) on 40 points, one more than Craig Corrigan, Phil Archer (Poulton Park) and Grant Hamerton.

Steve Hamer of Titleist was the event sponsor and he won the am am top prize partnering home star Andrew Hill to 45 points to lead in from Lee Warren (Northenden) and Dave Hemingway (Chorley) 44 and John Aikenhead (Ashton-on-Mersey) and Mark Gauchi (Chorlton) 42.
