Whie Cup at Chorlton sponsored by Don Milligan of DJM Dairies

Durnians roll back the years

IT was way back in 2002 that Alliance and national golf legend Denis Durnian partnered his wife Sam to victory in the historic Manchester Alliance competition Mixed Pairs competition for the White Cup.

They were then members of Styal Golf Club but returned to Chorlton for the latest White Cup competition as Chorley Golf Club members with Denis now competing as an amateur as the host club put on a fine course for a full field of players and they produced a string of good scores.

Cox made it a double as he also won the pro am section partnering Liz Lyons (Lymm) to win a cpo on 42 points from Phil Archer and his mum Jean (Birchwood) and Andy Palmer and Steph Patterson (Chorley) 40.

Chorlton star Hubert Dunki-Jacobs partnered Barbara Redford (Swinton Park) to a superb 45 points to win the am am section from Denis and Sam Durnian 43 and home duo Peter Parmeshwar and Jackie Whitehurst 42.

The White Cup is taken by the pair from the same club with the highest number of points and this was the Durnian duo who were delighted to take the coveted trophy back to Chorley Golf Club.
