Another Alliance thriller at glorious Bramall Park

THE Manchester Alliance enjoyed a magnificent sunny day, a fine course in excellent condition and an excellent revamped clubhouse at Bramall Park and the scoring reflected this with another day of hot scoring.

Alliance Captain Dave ‘Sunny’ Green (Dukinfield GC) kept up his 100 per cent record of no postponements during the season in the competition sponsored generously by the Nick Cook of Williams BMW who is a great supporter of Alliance and other golf clubs across Greater Manchester.

In the individual pro section Ollie Pantoja (Ashton-on-Mersey) posted 42 points to hold off a strong challenge from Graham Cox (Lymm) and Martyn Hamer ( Davyhulme Park) who tied on 41.

Last week at Stand Golf Club Accrington’s dynamic duo of Anthony Wilson and Phil Mayer set a new record by becoming the first pair from their club to win an Alliance competition.

They kept up their momentum with back-to-back wins posting 45 points to finish two clear of Martin Dwyer (Stamford) and Richard Margrove (Stand) who won a cpo from Mick Holmes (Cheadle) and Andy Hall (Chorlton) in the am am section.
