Sale have also been involved in delivering golf sessions to over 70 pupils at Ashton-on-Mersey High School- which has seen young stars Gemma Clews and Haydn McCullen go to make a big name for themselves at amateur level before embarking on a professional career.

John Jackson delivered the sessions assisted by hon secretary Jim Butlin and presented each pupil with a Sale Golf Club certificate for taking part.

John said: "It was great to see all the children having a really good time trying golf and to see how much they appreciated being presented with the certificates.

"Jim and I will be continuing to deliver more session in 2018 and help to get more boys and girls into golf.

"Since October I have been delivering free taster sessions in schools across Trafford to try and get more children into golf.

"This has included visiting and delivering taster sessions at:  Firs Primary School, Kings Road Primary School, Urmston Primary School, Ashton on Mersey High School, Altrincham Primary School and Woodhouse Primary School

"Between October 2017 and January 2018, I have delivered over 25 tri golf sessions seeing over 800 children. This is part of a big push to increase our junior membership and attract more juniors to Sale.

"Following on from the taster sessions a number of schools have taken up the opportunity to run a five-week tri golf after school club.

"The children at the schools have been presented with a Sale Golf Club Certificate at the end of their taster session as a keepsake for taking part."
