Home Rule At Sale

THE final of the 27th annual WGTB Club Trophy Knock Out enjoyed a great day at Sale Golf Club with magnificent weather backed by a challenging course and excellent catering and hospitality from all at the club.

There was an original entry of over 180 players from the 14 invited clubs and the 16 pairs who battled their way through can be congratulated on reaching the final day.

Setting the early pace were reigning champions Graham Jenkinson and John Hassett (Sale GC) who posted an impressive 41 points to have them leading for a long time until club colleagues Terry Crewe and Henry Hayes raced into the lead with a fabulous haul of 44 points.

Terry and Henry will enjoy a stay and play at the Q-Hotels Mottram Hall as well as keeping the WGTB Trophy at Sale for another 12 months.

Making it a clean sweep for the host club were last-in pair of Kevin and Brian Moore with 39 points.

Taking the other two prizes were Andrew and Chris Boyle (Brookdale) with 38 points and Steve and Mike Scragg (Chorlton) 37.

Nearest the pin prizes were taken by Duncan Baird (Brookdale) and Chris Boyle, also Brookdale.

Balls for Two’s were won by Graham Jenkinson, Steve Clough and Alan Andrews (Didsbury) Trevor Golds (Chorlton), Steve Wells (Sale) and Andrew Angelone (Stamford).
