WGTB Days Out at Disley

Sponsored by Mike Lydon of MGL Logistics

Great day for Ged and Ken at delightful Disley

DISLEY Golf Club presented WGTB with a scenic and beautifully prepared course with some of the trickiest greens in the region for the third Days Out of the 2017 season.

Following the extreme heat earlier in the week most players were grateful for a much cooler day with a small amount of rain to freshen up the players and there was some excellent cuisine to enjoy at the end of the round.

Vicars Cross GC duo Ged Wilkinson and Ken Sutton have been regulars in the competition for over two years with reasonable success but they excelled all of their previous outings with a stunning performance.

They went out in 24 points and kept up their momentum and added 26 points in the back nine to pots 50 points- the first time that this has been achieved for many years in WGTB Days Out.

They romped home by five points from the consistent Steve McDermott and Terry Dallimore with Terry (for a change) carrying his partner.

Next in were sponsor Mike Lydon and his Heaton Moor partner Jack Hunt with 44 points, one more than another Heaton Moor pair Steve Netherwood and John Wheeler who won a cpo from Cheadle’s Don Milligan and Mick Holmes and the ever unlucky Alan Lawrence and David Slater.

Nearest the pin prizes went to David Slater and Billy O’Neill and there was a glut of nine Two’s coming from Steve Netherwood, Mike Lydon, Billy McNeill, Ged Wilkinson, Ken Sutton, Tony Gregory, Charles Beadle, Terry Dallimore and Ernie Molloy with the free raffle being won by Steve McDermott.
