WGTB Days Out at At North Manchester Golf Club

Brilliant Result for WGTB Stars

NORTH Manchester Golf Club provided a superb and challenging course in great condition for the fourth WGTB Days Out in the’ Race to Haydock Park’ and the usual very friendly welcome from all of the members and staff.

The early pace was set by Mike Jones (Bramhall) and Chris Davies (Whalley) with 42 points and the bulk of the field struggle to match this.

Then as so always happens there was a late run of good scoring led by Flixton stars Chris Mulhearrn and Dave Lomax with 43 points before a real sting in the tail from the last group out.

Winners with their prize of a round for four at Grange Park GC,

It came from WGTB regulars Tam Donnelly (Northenden) and Mark Hughes (Blackley) with a fantastic haul of 46 points.

The other pair in the top prizes were Cheadle’s John Sandford and Nigel Day with 42 points and John also won the free raffle.

Nearest the pin prizes went to Terry Dallimore and Chris Mulhearn who also were the only two players to get Twos.

It was also a memorable day for Mike Roscoe who set a new record of winning the Shortest Drive Trophy four times after firing his tee shot on the first into the lake in front of the tee.

New qualifiers in the Race to Haydock Park were Chris Mulhearn and Dave Lomax, Nigel Day and John Sandford, Alan Rothwell and Paul Willoughby, Jack Hunt and Billy McNeil and Paul Grimsley and Terry Watson.
