WGTB Mixed Classic at Didsbury Golf Club

Beadle’s Enjoy A Great Day

THE first WGTB Mixed American Greensome of the season saw the field enjoy a superb day of great weather and an excellent course with a close finish for the five ‘major’ prizes on offer.

Early starters Charles and Maggie Beadle set a hot pace returning 42 points to finish one clear of their fellow Bramhall playing partners Richard and Sandra Smith.

It proved to be enough to win the top prize of a stay and play at Mottram Hall with the main challenge coming from Dean Wood’s John and Margaret McIntyre who won a cpo on 41 points to push the Smiths into third place to win a fabulous round of golf for four at Prestbury Golf Club with the Smith’s winning rounds for four at Windermere and Grange-over-Sands.

Next in on 40 points were Dave and Sheila McDonald of Houldsworth and Denton,who won a round for four at Stockport as they finished two ahead of Alan Roberts and Carol Harvey of Vicars Cross who will enjoy golf at Haigh Hall and an hour’s golf at Boomers and Swingers.

Nearest the pin prizes were won by Don Milligan (Cheadle) and Madelaine Kingham (Davenport) and Mike Westbrook of Cheadle had the only Two of the day to win 24 balls.

And excellent day with a great golf course and excellent service in the Didsbury clubhouse.
