Geoff has been involved in sport for more years than he cares to remember and as well as golf he has enjoyed success in both soccer and cricket. As a secondary school teacher in Manchester he was a coach/selector for Manchester Boys u15 teams and helped several boys through to the top echelons of the game.

As a player he was a goalkeeper with East Didsbury, then a leading club in the Lancashire and Cheshire League earning inter league honours and on giving up the gloves took up the whistle to become a Class One referee reaching semi-professional level as well as refereeing top schoolboy games.

His involvement with the L and C continued as he joined their management committee as their press and publicity representative and also selected and managed the inter-league team for many years and was League President in 1987.

As a cricketer Geoff played for Cheshire Schools and later in Manchester played for 40 years in league cricket with South West Manchester in the Manchester Association and then with Ashley in the Cheshire Cricket League, captaining both clubs and is the current President of Ashley Cricket Club.
